The Departments of Management and Business Administration at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Universitat de les Illes Balears and Universidad Pública de Navarra offer an innovative Ph. D. program in Management and Organization (DEMO). The Program is located at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.

The main purpose of the DEMO is to pool the efforts of three separate universities in order to launch a rigorous and internationally competitive project for trainging high quality and publishable research in science based approaches to management of organisations.

The developers of the program are firmly convinced that the trend observed in Finance fields related where an increasing number of people with PhD training take positions in industry as well as in academic and research institutes, is now spreading to the other fields of management and organisation, in areas like corporate governance and general management.

In this sense, the DEMO program is a pioneer project that provides students an opportunity to train them in these fields with a balance between ranging and relevance in their future careers.

This project is based on similar initiatives that have proven successful in other countries, particularly in such world-class business schools as Stanford, Pennsylvania, MIT, Harvard, Northwestern and Chicago. Also, this programme carries the guarantee of the experience and personal commitment of the faculty who lend their support to the project, driven by their desire to address the need for better teaching and learning standards on doctoral programmes in the various areas of business studies.

Moreover, all over the world Economics and Business Ph D. programs attract students that have Undergraduate degrees in fields different from Economics and Business Administration. We are convinced that rigorous training in research methods in the field require two years of courses in a wide array of disciplines such as quantitative methods, econometrics, economic analysis and the theory of organization.
