The University of the Balearic Islands, heir to the ‘Universitat Lul·liana de Mallorca’, was created in 1978; the first of the democratic era. Since then, this public institution of higher education has travelled the road that has led it to increasingly higher standards of academic quality and social responsibility.

The University of the Balearic Islands is rooted in our land yet it is also universal, open to the world; it holds true to the principles of providing services and of collaborating with social and business actors, as well as with sustainability and respect for the environment. Thereby, it has become a key institution for the future and the backbone of our islands, and we would like it to continue to be a lever of social, cultural and economic progress; a lever supported by teaching and scientific excellence.
